While the holidays may bring peace to some for most, though the season simply personifies materialistic to the max
In David McCullough's speech, he says "I want you to go as far as I have gone."
David McCullough is saying that we spend our money and fly around the world. Why we need to be doing that? We don't. It’s just another materialistic thing. This could easily hurt our nations. We wouldn't be all for one. According to Lisa Huff an English teacher, she explains that F. Scott Fitzgerald cautioned a generation, noting how extravagance and over abundance can detail a productive and healthy life style.
In the article F. Scott is trying to caution people so they won’t be so materialistic. He’s also saying if we become to materialistic our lives will lead to unhealthy ways.
In the article, doesn’t rain holiday season with materialism by Jennifer Cabin, "Jenifer says" trust them? The article says that a typical first grader is able to recognize 200 brads and acquires 70new toys a year. A professor says that kids who buy into these more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety ect.

If we don’t take a stand and try to bring materialism down then were going to get the impact and its going to be hard and hurt. All this really shows were pushing materialism to the max! People don’t even know what we are in for.

Antonia

Willa Cather in her novel My Antonia  offers her view of life during the pioneer time. My Ántonia would be different if it was told from Ántonia's perspective, she would describe on how she lived with her family in the old worn down house. From how she changed when she got to the big city, and what big changes happend from that. Pretty much how life wasnt so easy going at first.
She sounded like a man all the way. She put her thinking and mind as if she was a man. And put herself in a man's point of view to help her along.
Jim changed the title from Antonia to My Antonia because he was in love. Therefore decided to change the title for that very reason.

The Effects of the Setting

Author Willa Cather embedded literary devices, such as metaphors, similes, and personification, within her writing.

"As I looked about me I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of wine-stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running."

"The grave, with its tall red grass that was never mowed, was like a little island."

"Winter comes down savagely over a little town on the prairie. The wind that sweeps in from the open country strips away all the leafy screens that hide one yard from another in summer, and the houses seem to draw closer together. The roofs, that looked so far away across the green treetops, now stare you in the face, and they are so much uglier than when their angles were softened by vines and shrubs.

There is a reason they are hard workers and know a little bit on farming, and have responsible behavior. Living on a farm instead of the city really turns a person into a better person. Growing up with responsibilities and hard work teaches you a whole lot.

A setting I can relate to is them working on the farm. After working a day on the farm can actually make you feel pretty good. More then staying in the house all day and getting that sick from staying in so long. But when you step outside you feel much better. Hard work helps you through life and makes life easier. Work teaches you many things, and brings you out to be a better grown up not only for yourself but to others as well.

Argument: Driving for lunch.

My Claim
All of the high school should be able to leave school campus beside just the seniors.

  • It isn't fair for seniors to go to lunch and juniors and sophomores cant.We have just much of a right to leave as they do. We have cars just as well, the maturity level is no different then ours. We can make it to school we can leave as well as they.
    • If the sophomores and juniors dosnt get to go neither should they.
    • What gives them the right but were stuck here eating cafeteria food?
  • Department of Arkansas certifies the lisence, therefore there is notification.
    • You have to pass the written part by least a 80%. Need at least a C average to take it. So you need a little common sence.
    • You have to drive with a cop to get the lisence. Therefore you can drive obviously if you had passed. They dont let things slide.
  • Juniors and Sophomores stay for lunch.
  • Everybody who can drive has the same right to leave for lunch.
My argument is a deeuctive argument.

Stormy night.

It was a dark and stormy night..The wind was rustling and the shy was rouring. They sky was green and clouds were circling fearcly. In the distance you can tell "it" was coming. As previous times I knew what was heading towards me. A tornado. Quarter sized hail started pouring from the sky. Damaging everything it hits. All I could focus on was finding shelter and trying to help anybody around. The storm was getting closer and closer. Preparing for the storm and saving everything possible and everyone.

9/11.

9/11 has had much impact on my life. Also the little things as in gas, taxes, increase on plublisity, and awearness. They tell there children they are to die to go to heaven..  Other wise they wont go to heaven. That there god will not be happy and satisfied with them..What kind of people would do that to children.? They want us to turn around and be like them and worship there "god".? Showing video's of children being strapped to bombs. Teenagers with bombs strapped. Adults with bombs strapped. Goes to show how there raised and treated. All becuase we dont worship there god they just blow up and be baby's and blow things up..haha. Wow.

Explaining why I chose me audience.

Giving information based on what I learned from the states I visited to share with historians. One major place was Washington DC. The Memorial really captures you. You really relize all the soldiers who died for our country. Going through the White house wasn't what I expected. There was a blue room, yellow room, green room, ect. Tennessee is a very familiar state. Land there is a little different then ours. More hilly and dry.  More of a city. Oklahoma was pretty different from Arkansas. Oklahoma was much warmer than here, and much more mountains. Many things and information could bring in future historians. Especially for the people who died for our country and how it played.

Describing a place-Journey

My summer tour with my cousin and grandma. Went to many many places as in Kentucky, Tennesse,  Ohklahoma, Washington DC, Virgina, Texa's, ect. While going through all these amazing places, food was a big part of it.! Phew food's I ate Rare sea food, country food. Very rare did I eat the food we eat here. Wich suprised me. During my trip sights played a big and important roll. Phew sights seen, the Memorial, inside the White House, ect. Being able to see these sights and learn about history that was very important made me think about life.
